We are proud of the Xavier Class of 2020. End of the year senior activities have a tradition at Xavier of being meaningful ways to celebrate the journey and accomplishments of our Xavier graduates! It is still of the utmost importance that we honor and recognize our graduates to the best of our ability. In our planning we have worked to carefully balance honoring everyone’s accomplishments, following guidelines that limit gathering and the time to plan and prepare meaningful events. We have established a page on our website at XavierSaints.org/2020 for a resource page for all things related to senior events that also includes a video message from Principal Olson for our seniors. **Please note that all events are subject to change based on any new guidelines or regulations that may occur from Governor Reynolds or the Department of Education.** SENIOR EVENT SCHEDULE Senior Class Meeting - Wednesday April 22, 3:00 p.m. Cap and Gown Pickup - DATE TBD Cap and Gown Photo Submission - DATE TBD Virtual Senior Retreat - Friday May 8 - TIME TBD Baccalaureate - Livestream Mass and Speakers Wednesday May 13, 7:00 p.m. Senior Honors Recognition - Wednesday May 20 (will be posted online) Virtual Commencement and Graduation Parades - Sunday May 24, 2:00 p.m. Future Celebration! - DATE TBD SENIOR EVENT INFORMATION Senior Class Meeting - This meeting is to prepare seniors for upcoming events and what is expected of them. Following the meeting seniors will also complete a senior exit survey. We value feedback from this survey greatly and look forward to hearing from everyone. This meeting will be held via Zoom with Ms. Olson and Mr. Miller Cap and Gown Pickup - Seniors will pick up their cap, gown and tassel from Xavier. We will share the date and details on this in the near future. Cap and Gown Photo Submission - We are asking seniors to submit a photo of themselves to use in our virtual commencement ceremony on May 24. Instructions and the date will be shared with seniors and their parents soon. Virtual Senior Retreat - This will be led by Mrs. Esker and Mrs. Ireland via Zoom. Senior retreat will provide an opportunity for seniors to share stories and their faith journey. Mr. Keating will be a guest speaker for the retreat. Senior Walk - We are so disappointed that we cannot gather at elementary schools for the Saints to interact with their former teachers and inspire the Class of 2032. We will abide by the Governor’s request to not gather or leave homes unless necessary but we will involve these teachers on graduation day! Baccalaureate - This is a special evening for seniors and their parents. We will livestream mass which will then be followed by two speakers to address the Class of 2020 regarding their faith journey. These speakers will be one faculty member and one senior as selected by the senior class. Senior Honors - We are very proud of the accomplishments of the Class of 2020. The awards, scholarships and recognition will be shared and published online. The awards and any scholarship money will be delivered with diplomas on graduation day. Graduation - Commencement will be live streamed as virtual commencement exercises. Following commencement, Xavier faculty, staff and elementary and middle school teachers will be visiting homes of each of the graduates as a graduation celebration parade. Diplomas and other awards will be delivered as a part of the parade. While we would like more than anything to see graduates walk across the stage in the Xavier gym, it is also important to us that all seniors are recognized and celebrate the end of their high school journey. To that end, we have chosen not to postpone graduation at the risk of continued guidelines that would prohibit large group gatherings. Future Celebration - We look forward to the opportunity to celebrate the Class of 2020 together. When and if we are able to gather together, we will! |
