Go Saints! Weekly XHS Activities Highlights: 10/3/19

CROSS COUNTRY

Your Saints Girls and Boys cross country teams competed at the Rich Engel Classic in Cedar Falls On Thursday the 19th.  Both teams competed well in a very wet conditions and tough competition. 

• Both Boys and Girls teams will compete Today at the Eastern Iowa Classic held by CRK at Noelridge Park.  Good luck to both of our teams.
• On Tuesday October 1st, both teams head to the University of Iowa Ashton Cross Country course to run in the Iowa City West Invitational.

FOOTBALL

The #2/#3 ranked 3A Xavier Saints Football team took down West Delaware 28-12 on Senior Night on Friday.  Congratulations to Coach Schulte and the Football team. 

•  Tomorrow the Saints play host to Maquoketa in their first district football game and also Homecoming.  Game time is 7:15. 
• At half time of the Varsity game, we will announce this years Homecoming King and Queen. 

Girls Swimming

Xavier Swimmers at CR Kennedy & CR Washington were in action this past Tuesday. 

• CRW: Lucy Pfab:
  • 2nd in 200 Yd Medley Relay, 3rd in 50 Yd Freestyle, 2nd in 100 Yd Freestyle, 1st in 200 Yd Freestyle Relay
• CRK:  
  • Anne Baumann:1st in 200 Yd Medley Relay, 3rd 50 Yd Freestyle, 2nd in 500 Yd Freestyle, 1st in 400 Yd Freestyle Relay
  • Maddie Gannon: 1st in 200 Yd Medley Relay, 1st in 100 Yd Freestyle Relay, 2nd in 200 Yd Freestyle Relay, 1st in the 100 Yd Breaststroke
  • Casey Gannon: 1st in 200 Yd Medley Relay, 1st 200 Yd IM, 2nd in 200 Yd Freestyle Relay, 1st in 100 Yd Backstroke

The ladies return to the pool this Saturday with CRK swimming at home, and CRW at Des Moines Lincoln.  Good luck to all of our swimmers.

Boys Golf

The boys golfers headed to Western Dubuque for their MVC Quad at Thunder Hills.  The team posted a solid round as they prepare for their second divisional round at Bunker Hill Golf Course in Dubuque.  The second divisional will be played 10/1/19 at 9:30am.

• The Make-up MVC quad between Xavier, Hemstead, Liberty, and Kennedy has been scheduled for  10/2/19 at St. Andrews Golf Course. 

 Volleyball

The #1 ranked 4A Xavier Saints Volleyball defeated Waterloo East on Tuesday.  They now move to 17-1 on the year. Congratulations to Coach Filer and all the ladies!  

• The ladies will be in action again next Tuesday as they head to Cedar Falls to take on the 5A #1 ranked Tigers.  Good luck ladies. 

Marching Band

The Marching Band will be in their first competition this Saturday.  They travel over to the Linn-Mar Invitational and are set to play at 12:15.  Good luck to all of our Saints Marching Band members!
