Go Saints! XHS Activities Week-in-Review: Sept. 12, 2019

FOOTBALL

The ranked 3A Xavier Saints Football team took down Decorah Friday night with a score of 36-14. Congrats to Coach Schulte and the entire Saints Football team!

•  Tonight, the Saints will travel to Davenport Assumption in their Week 3 matchup.  Game time is set for 7:15.
• In their week 4 matchup, the Saints will play host to West Delaware.  Game time is set for 7:15. 

CROSS COUNTRY

Great running out of our Girls and Boys cross country teams on Saturday at Linn-Mar.  Congratulations to Hannah Denman for finishing 6th overall and Jack Renning for finishing 9th overall.

The Boys cross country team also competed on Tuesday at Grinnell.  Congratulations to Jack Renning on his 2nd place finish in a tough field with four ranked teams in 3A. 

• The Girls team will travel to Luther this Saturday to compete in the All American Invitational.  Running will begin at 9:00am.

Xavier Swimmers at CR Kennedy & CR Washington were in action this past Tuesday.

Boys Golf

In boys’ golf, the Saints shoot 325 and are led by Senior Michael Glavan’s 76 and finished fourth out of the nine team CRANDIC field at Gardner Golf course on Tuesday.  Michael finished 3rd overall and Matthew Schmit tied for 9th.  

• Today’s MVC quad with Hempstead, Liberty, and Cedar Falls has been rescheduled to next Wednesday.  Play will start at 3:15 at St. Andrews Golf Course. 
• Golf will play in their first divisional round next week Monday at Thunder Hill Golf and Country Club.  Play will start at 9:30am. 

 Volleyball

Your #2 ranked 4A Xavier Saints Volleyball were the champions of the Washington Invitational on Saturday.  The Saints went undefeated in pool play and then defeated Marion in the Championship match 21-18; 21-10. Congratulations to these ladies.  Also congratulations to Coach Filer as he achieved his 100th victory this weekend as well.

On Tuesday, the volleyball team completed the sweep of Prairie High School.  Saints won the varsity match 3-0 by scores of 25-17, 25-13, 25-15.

• The ladies will be in action again this Saturday as they head to the North Scott Invitational.  Play will start at 8:30am.
• On Tuesday 9/17, the Saints travel to Western Dubuque for their MVC matchup with the Bobcats.

Robotics

Xavier’s robotics team will be on hand for Family STEAM night prior to Brucemorchestra on Sep 14. Both events are great for the whole family! Family STEAM Day will feature exciting, space exploration and engineering-themed activities, displays, and learning opportunities for children and their families.
