GO SAINTS! XHS Activities Weekly Highlights: January 27, 2022

Boys Basketball:
The boys basketball team currently sits at 8-6 (6-4) on the season. Tuesday, they defeated Waterloo West at home 74-70. Friday, the boys will host Iowa City West in part 2 of the Varsity Boy/Girl doubleheader here at Xavier. Boys tip is set for 7:30pm. Future Saints for boys will be introduced at halftime of the boys game.
Next week, the boys will be on the road on Tuesday at Dubuque Hempstead followed by another varsity boy/girl double header against Prairie on Friday.
Bowling:
The bowling teams will head to Cherry Lanes in Dubuque for the MVC Valley Divisional Meet hosted by Dubuque Senior on Thursday. Competition will begin at 10am.
Girls Basketball:
Coach Lilly and the Girls basketball team moved to 11-5 (8-2) on the year. The Saints picked up wins over Waterloo East 73-39 on Friday. Followed by a big win over Iowa City High on Saturday 61-50.
Friday this week, the girls will play the 6:00pm game as part of the Boy/Girl doubleheader against Iowa City West. The future saints for girls basketball will be introduced at halftime of the varsity contest.
Next week, the ladies will be home against Dubuque Hempstead on Tuesday and Prairie on Friday.
Jazz Band:
After nearly two years without an in person competition, Jazz Band One competed at the State Jazz Festival on Monday at Mount Vernon High School. The group received a Division 1 rating. Congratulations to Ms. Swehla and all of our Jazz students.
Show Choir:
Both Xuberance and Xhilaration open their competition season on the 29th in Davenport at the Davenport North “Big Dance” competition. Xub will perform at 9:00am and Xhil will perform at 1:15pm
Speech:
Saturday, our Saints in Large Group Speech headed to Monticello for their Large Group District Speech Competition.

Swimming and Diving
On Saturday, both Washington and Kennedy competed in the MVC Supermeet hosted by Iowa City West.
Congratulations to Jack Dake who placed 3rd in the 200 Yd Freestyle Relay. Some other notable finishes were:
Spencer Kramer top 10 finish in the 200 medley relay, 50 free, and 200 freestyle relay.
Brain Foerster top 10 in the 200 medley relay and 100 breaststroke
Seth Williams top 10 in the 100 butterfly and 400 freestyle relay
These teams will now be off until districts on Saturday February 5th.
Wrestling:
The wrestling team took down CR Jefferson by a score of 61-13 last week Thursday.
On Saturday, the wrestling team finished 6th at the Bean City Duals hosted by Iowa City High. There were many contributors, here are few notables:
