GO SAINTS! XHS Activities Weekly Highlights: March 31, 2022

Spring Play
The production of “The Play that Goes Wrong” starts next week on Thursday. Our Saints have been putting together a fantastic show that is sure to impress. Make sure to catch a show Thursday, Friday, or Saturday next week.
Band and Choir
Congratulations to all of the students who participated in the State Solo and Small Ensemble Festival on Saturday~
On the Band side there were 42 entries and out of those entries
30 received Division I Superior ratings
11 received Division II Excellent ratings
And there was 1 Division III Good rating
Isabella Anderson received a best of center for her flute solo
On the Music side there were 21 total entries
6 received Division 1 ratings
13 received Division 2 ratings
And there was 1 Division 3 rating
Congrats to all for a great day of performances!
Jazz Band One will play in the Iowa Jazz Championships on Tuesday April 5th in Ames. This is a great opportunity for the Saints to represent Xavier to wrap up the season!
Boys Soccer:
Boys soccer will host North Scott in the first regular season game tonight at Xavier. The JV will kickoff at 5:30 followed by the varsity at 7:15pm.
Girls Soccer:
Girls soccer will travel to Center Point - Urbana for their season opener on Saturday. The Varsity will play at 3:00pm followed by the JV at 4:30pm.
Girls Golf:
The Girls golf team will get their season started on Tuesday the 5th as they travel to Pleasant Valley Golf Course for an MVC quad. Play starts at 3:00pm
Speech:
Congratulations to the following students for performing at the IE All-State Speech Festival at UNI on Monday, March 28!!

Track and Field:
Congratulations to the following individuals who placed in the top 3 at the track meet on Friday in Washington, IA
The team of Grayson Hartman, Michael Cunningham, Jevin Rextoth and Josef Lemker placed 2nd in the Distance Medley Relay
Grayson Hartman placed 2nd in the Long Jump
The boys will be back in action on Friday for the Cedar Rapids Washington Invitational on Friday. Events start at 4:30pm.
The Girls track meets were canceled for Saturday and Tuesday. They will open their season on Tuesday at the CR Washington Invitational.
Tennis:
The boys and girls tennis teams will open their season on Saturday. The boys will be home against both Washington and Jefferson. The Washington match is set for 9:00am and Jefferson is scheduled for 1:00pm. The Girls will play opposite the boys at Washington at 9 and at Jefferson at 1:00pm.
