GO SAINTS! XHS Activities Weekly Highlights: May 26, 2022

Baseball:
The varsity baseball team moved to 6-1 on the year with a sweep over Kennedy last night 11-2, 5-4. The Saints will head to Cedar Falls on Friday before memorial day weekend!
Boys Soccer:
Boys soccer defeated Hudson in Monday's 2A District 3 semi final match. Yesterday, the Saints traveled to Gilbert High School to take on the Tigers in the Sub-state Final. The Saints ended their season 9-7 on the year!
Girls Soccer:
Girls soccer defeated Cedar Rapids Washington 7-0 on Tuesday in the Class 2A Region 7 semi-final. The Saints (now 11-3) will host Clear Creek Amana in the Regional Final tonight here at Saints Field. The game is scheduled for a 6:00pm kickoff. The winners will move to the state tournament next week in Des Moines!
Girls Golf:
Sophomore golfer Meera Julka, heads to the class 3A State Golf Meet at River Valley in Adel. She comes in as a top 10 ranked golfer and will battle it out for the top spot today and tomorrow. Play starts today at 9:30am.
Track and Field:
The Co-Ed State Track and Field meet was last Thursday - Saturday. The Saints had a great representation after last week’s state qualifier. Congratulations to our State place winners that include:
Emma Arnold 7th in the 400h
Boys Shuttle Hurdle Relay team finished 5th
Grayson Hartman finished as Runner up in the 110 meter hurdles and with a new school record!
The Boys 4x100 made up of Luke Efting, Grayson Hartman, Michael Cunningham, and Aidan McDermott were the 3A State Champions!

Tennis:
In Singles and Doubles State Tournament action, the Saints were unstoppable! In singles, Senior Brady Horstmann won the 1A championship 1-6, 6-3, 7-6(7-4). In doubles, seniors Declan Coe and Hugh Courter won the 1A Championship 7-5, 6-4 over Pella. Great work Saints!
Boys Team Tennis advanced to the final 4 in class 1A. The team will take on Spencer. On the 31st at Waveland Tennis Courts in Des Moines.
Girls Team tennis advanced to the final 4 after defeating Clarinda 5-0 on Saturday! They will take on Davenport Assumption at 8:00am on June 1st in Des Moines.
State individual and Doubles will be the 27th and 28th at the University of Iowa Tennis Complex. Ella received the #3 seed and will start on Friday! Courtney and Ally received the #1 seed in doubles and will start on Friday as well.

Softball
The Saints opened the season with a split with Iowa City West. They won the first game 12-0. Tonight, the Saints will host Prairie in a conference doubleheader starting at 5:30pm. On Saturday they will head to Marion for a non-conference JV/V game.
