GO SAINTS! XHS Activities Weekly Highlights: Sept. 10, 2020

 

Boys & Girls Cross Country: 

Both teams competed Saturday at Linn-Mar invite.  The top finishers were Randell Kinner for the Boys and Lizzie Schmit for the Girls.  

They will run again next Thursday at the Rich Engel Classic in Cedar Falls.  

Boys Golf: 

 

On Thursday last week, the varsity team hosted their first home meet of the year.  Matthew Schmit was the runner-up finisher with 38.  Congratulations! 

 

The Saints golf meet on Tuesday was postponed due to weather.  They are scheduled to compete today at the Meadows.    

 

Our Saints currently rank 9th overall in 4A golf.  Great work from our Saints Golfers. 

 

Swimming:

 

Kennedy Results for Tuesday at Dubuque Wahlert:

• Anne Baumann: 2nd in 200 Medley relay, 3rd in 200 IM, 3rd in 100 back, 1st in 400 free relay
• Casey Gannon: 2nd in 200 Medley relay, 1st in 200 IM, 2nd in 500 freestyle, 2nd in 400 free relay
• Maria Trotta: 2nd in 200 medley relay, 1st in 50 free, 3rd in 100 fly, 2nd in 400 free relay
• Meera Julka: 3rd in the 200 medley relay, 1st in 200 free relay, 2nd in 400 free relay

The Kennedy team will swim again next Thursday at Pleasant Valley. 

 

Washington’s meet on Tuesday against Iowa City High was Postponed.  They will swim again today against Marshalltown at Marshalltown.  

 

Great work in the pool ladies! 

 Volleyball

The 4A #1 ranked Saints defeated Oskaloosa 3-0 and Clinton 3-0 on Saturday here at Xavier.  This was a replacement for the lost Cedar Rapids Washington Tournament.  

On Tuesday, the Saints hosted Kennedy and defeated the Cougars 3-0.  The Sophomores, JV, and Varsity all remain undefeated on the year. 

The Varsity team will travel to North Scott to take part in the Lancer Invite on Saturday.   Good luck ladies! 

Football:

The #4 ranked Saints are starting 2-0 on the year.  They defeated Linn-Mar 24-20 last Friday.  The Saints will return to action tomorrow at home against Clear Creek Amana to start district play.  The Freshmen will start at 5:00 and Varsity at 7:30pm.

Next Friday the Saints will be playing Newton at home with Freshmen starting at 5 and varsity at 7:30pm.
