Boys & Girls Cross Country:
The Boys and Girls competed twice this last week. On Saturday, the team ran at the Linn-Mar International. Both teams had great weather and competed well.
On Tuesday, the Saints traveled to Grinnell. Again, a lot of improvement in times across both teams. Congratulations to Randall Kinner for his 8th place overall finish for the boys.
Saturday, both teams will travel to Luther College. Running starts at 9:00am. Thursday next week, the Saints will travel to Cedar Falls for the Rich Engel Classic.
Boys Golf:
Last Thursday, the boys played in their MVC quad with Cedar Falls, Prairie, and Dubuque Senior. Charlie Allen finished as the Runner-up medalist followed by great scores from Quincey Johnson 35 (E), Garrett Nurre 37, Ryan Schmit 39.
At the CRANDIC meet on Tuesday, the team finished 3rd overall. They were led by Charlie Allen who finished in a tie for medalist honors. He shot 3 under par.
Today, the Saints will play in a MVC quad at Ellis Golf Course with Liberty, Hempstead, and Kennedy.
Next week, Xavier hosts the first Valley Divisional meet at St. Andrews on Monday. Play starts at 9:30am.
Football:
The 4A top ten ranked Saints (2-0) defeated 3A #2 West Delaware last Friday 23-21. In a battle of top ranked teams. Tomorrow, they will travel to Loras College to take on Dubuque Wahlert. Varsity Kickoff is set for 7:30pm.
Next week, the team will host North Scott here at Saints Field in a rematch of last year's Semi-Final game. Varsity kickoff is set for 7:30pm.
Swimming:
Our girls swimming for the Cedar Rapids schools continue their success in the pool after another great week.
Due to some complications at Washington, the Washington vs Iowa City High swim meet was postponed to a future date.
Kennedy hosted Wahlert on Tuesday and won the meet 140-44. Here are the top finishers for Kennedy Varsity.
Casey Gannon: 1st in 100 butterfly, 1st in 200 free relay, 2nd in 200 freestyle, 3rd in 400 free relay
Anne Baumann: 1st in 200 medley relay, 1st in 200 IM, 1st in 100 breastroke, 1st in 200 free relay
Meera Julka: 3rd in the medley relay, 3rd in 50 free, 2nd in 100 free, 1st in the 200 free relay
Today, Washington will host Marshalltown in a dual meet. Swimming is scheduled to start at 5:30pm.
On Saturday, Kennedy will travel to Clinton.
Volleyball
The 4A top ten ranked Saints (8-1) took part in the Marion Invitational on Saturday. They won the tournament while defeating 3 top ten ranked teams in 4A/5A. They defeated Marion in the championship match 21-12 and 21-13.
Tuesday, the Saints hosted a class 5A top 10 ranked Kennedy and defeated the Cougars 3-1.
On Saturday, the Saints will travel to North Scott to take part in their Invitational. Pool play starts at 9:00am.
