We are asking the Xavier community to keep XHS sophomores, Ali Schuchmann and Caiden Tresnak, along with their families in our prayers. Both Saints were recently diagnosed with cancer and have entered new stages of their battles.
Ali was diagnosed with Primary Mediastinal B-cell Lymphoma, a very rare but curable cancer, last spring amid school closure due to COVID-19. On August 23rd, Ali completed her sixth and final round of chemotherapy. She will return for scans and a follow up on September 15th to ensure the cancer is gone. Caiden was diagnosed with a different form of cancer just before the start of the school year. He underwent a successful surgery on August 28th and we are happy to report that both he and Ali are back at school!
We are also happy to report that the outlook for Caiden and Ali looks very good, but to help show our support for these two Saints as they continue with their respective follow-ups, "Rally for Ali" and "TreshyTough" t-shirts are currently being sold online. Proceeds from the shirts will benefit the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital (Rally for Ali orders) and the Tresnak family (Treshy Tough orders).
