Earlier today, Governor Reynolds announced that schools will remain closed through the end of the 2019-2020 school year. While this announcement is not entirely unexpected, it does not make it any easier on families. We would like nothing more than to be in a position to throw our doors open and welcome our students back to school yet this year, but that is simply not possible. Our Xavier Catholic Schools will remain on track with our continuous learning plans for students with the school year ending as scheduled on Friday May 29. It is worthy to note that Governor Reynolds also allowed for local decisions to begin the school year earlier than our current start date of August 24th. Xavier Catholic Schools will be working collaboratively (and with our respective school boards) on decisions as they relate to the start date of the 2020-2021 school year. A few additional notes regarding end of the year planning: We will be setting future days and times for the pick-up and return of student materials and belongings. Stay tuned for additional information. All PK-8 end of the year celebration plans will be looked at in the coming week with plans shared as soon as they are available. At the high school level, this also means that all spring activities have been cancelled as noted by the IHSAA and IGHSAU. This cancellation is effective for all spring practices, competitions, and postseason events. We are awaiting further guidance regarding summer activities, which we are expecting to hear by June 1st. With many parents who are currently working from home now as well, please know that our teachers will continue to engage our students. Teachers remain committed to fully supporting our students in their learning during this time.
