Xavier's Library & Media Center (LMC) features an open floorplan with multiple areas for independent and collaborative learning. Modern furnishings allow students to study or read in comfort while offering students an contemporary library resource for coursework. The north wall of the LMC is a series of large windows that overlook the Senior Patio and Saints Field. The LMC was recently transformed from a more traditional library to an environment better suited to modern and active learning. This transformation project was made possible by a generous donation from supporters, Mike & Jo Cambridge.
The iLab (formerly a computer lab) was established as part of Xavier's larger modernization to its LMC. The iLab features multiple large displays, creating an ideal environment for collaborative digital learning. Teachers will often use this space when working on group projects and connecting with others around the world.
The Cube is the large glass classroom centered in the LMC. With its large projection display and flexible seating / active learning furniture, this space is often used by teachers to show videos, conduct small group discussion/projects, and research instruction.
Also housed in the LMC, is Xavier's Learning Coach. The Learning Coach develops, reviews and updates 504 accommodation plans, monitors grades of students with 504 accommodations and helps students overcome academic challenges. A 504 plan is a blueprint for how a school will provide support and remove learning barriers for a student with a disability. Learn more...
