GO SAINTS! XHS Activities Week-in-Review: Aug. 29, 2024

BOYS GOLF (CURRENTLY RANKED: #9 IN CLASS 4A)

The Boys Golf team is ranked 9th in this week’s IHSGCA 4A Poll.  The Saints have already played in four 18-hole tournaments:  

• The team competed on Thursday, August 15th in the MVC Super Meet at Gardner G.C.  The Saints placed 4th out of 15th conference schools.  Pranay Monga led the team placing 2nd with a score of 71.   

• The team competed on Monday, August 19th in the Linn-Mar Invitational at Hunters Ridge G.C.  The Saints placed 2nd out of 12 teams.  Pranay Monga led the team with a score of 72.   

• The team competed in the CR Washington Invitational on Thursday, August 22nd at Saddleback G.C. in Solon. The Saints shot a school record 290 and placed 2nd out of 18 teams.  Pranay Mongal and Logan Otting led the Saints each shooting a 72.  Jacob Schmit and Jack Pauly each added a score of 73.    

• The team competed on Monday, August 26th in the Dragon Invitational at the Jester Park G.C.   The Saints placed 6th out of a strong 12 team field.  Jacob Schmit placed 6 with a score of 72.  

• The team competes again on Thursday, August 29th in the IC West Triangular.  Match time is 3:15 at Finkbine G.C.  

VOLLEYBALL (CURRENTLY RANKED: #1 IN CLASS 4A)

The Volleyball team is ranked #1 in the IGHSAU Pre-Season 4A Poll.  The Saints beat Western Dubuque on Tuesday, August 27th by a score of 3 to 0.  The team is 1-0 in the MVC and competes again on Tuesday, September 3rd hosting 5A 4th ranked Iowa City Liberty.  Match time is 7:00 p.m.    

GIRLS SWIMMING

Girls Swim highlights from CR Kennedy @ IC  City High on Tuesday, August 27th:  

• Sarah Foerster won the 100 Freestyle and was on the winning 4x50 Medley Relay.

• Lydia Lueth won the 100 Breastroke.  

Members of the swim team compete again on Saturday, August 31st in the Ram Relays @ Dubuque Senior.  Meet time is 10:00 a.m.  

FOOTBALL (CURRENTLY RANKED: #3 IN CLASS 4A)

The Football team is ranked 3rd in this week’s Radio Iowa 4A Poll.  The Saints open the season on Friday, August 30th hosting 4A 10th ranked Waverly-Shell Rock at Saints Field.  Game time is 7:30 p.m.    

CROSS COUNTRY

The Girls and Boys Cross Country teams open their season on Saturday, August 31st at the CR Prairie Invitational.  Meet time is 8:00 a.m.
