GO SAINTS! XHS Activities Week-in-Review: December 12, 2024

Xavier Dance Team
The Dance team competed at ISDTA State on Friday, December 6th. The Saints
placed 1st in the Class X Pom division and placed 2nd in the Class VII Hip Hop
division. Olivia Neal won the Class VII Solo Championship. Saylor Eggleston
placed 9th and Marley Beeken placed 10th. Congratulations to Coach Novotny
and all members of the Dance team on representing Xavier so well at State!
The Boys Basketball won two games last week. The Saints beat Iowa City High by
a score of 62 to 49 and beat Waverly-Shell Rock by a score of 47 to 45. The team
is 2-0 on the season and plays again on Friday, December 13th hosting CR
Jefferson (1-2) at 7:30 p.m.
Girls Basketball
The 4A 7th ranked Girls Basketball team (3-2) beat 5A 9th ranked Cedar Falls on
Tuesday, December 10th by a score of 56 to 39. Congratulations to Coach Lilly
and all members of the team on an outstanding road win! The Saints play again
on Friday, December 13th hosting CR Jefferson (3-1). Game time is 6:00 p.m.
The Girls & Boys Bowling teams compete on Thursday, December 12th in an MVC
dual with Waterloo West at May City Bowl. Matches begin at 3:00 p.m. The Girls
Bowling team competes on Saturday, December 14th in the CR Prairie Baker
Tournament at Cedar Creek Lanes beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Girls & Boys Wrestling
The Girls & Boys Wrestling team competed in an MVC dual at Western Dubuque
on Thursday, December 5th. Congratulations to the following Saints who won
their match:- Elliott Gnewuch (113), Bryce Naber (132), Jack Foster (138), Kale Leymaster(150) & Jean Ngoma (215)
- Hannah Pfab won by fall for the Girls team
- The Boys Wrestling team competed in the Cliff Keen Invitational on Saturday,
- December 7th. The Saints placed 13th out of 30 participating teams.
- Congratulations to the following Saints who placed in the top six at the meet:
- Elliott Gnewuch (113) & Dusty Cook (190) placed 6th
- Kale Leymaster (150) placed 5th
- Jean Ngoma (215) placed 1st
The Girls & Boys Wrestling teams compete again on Thursday, December 12th in
an MVC dual at Iowa City Liberty. Match time is 7:00 p.m. Both Wrestling teams
compete on Saturday, December 14th. The Girls team is at the Marion
Tournament scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. The Boys team is at the Mt. Vernon
Invitational scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m.
Boys Swimming
Boys Swim results from the Iowa City High at CR Washington meet held on
Thursday, December 5th:- Remy Barton & Anthony Trotta were on the 1st place 200 Medley Relay
- Anthony Trotta placed 2nd in the 50 Free
- Remy Barton placed 2nd in the 500 Free
- Joe Dake & Anthony Trotta were on the 1st place 200 Free Relay
- Joe Dake placed 2nd in the 100 Backstroke
- Remy Barton was on the 1st place 400 Free Relay
Boys Swim results from the CR Kennedy at CR Washington meet held on Tuesday,
December 10th:- Remy Barton & Anthony Trotta were on the 1st place 200 Free Relay
- Anthony Trotta placed 1st in the 100 Breastroke
- Augustus Martino placed 2nd in the 100 Breastroke
- Anthony Trotta was on the 1st place 200 Medley Relay
- Augustus Martino was on the 2nd place 200 Medley Relay
- Remy Barton placed 2nd in the 100 Butterfly
- Joe Dake & Remy Barton were on the 1st place 400 Free Relay
- Augustus Martino was on the 2nd place 400 Free Relay
The Robotics team competed on Friday, December 6th at North Linn. Team
#5143 deputed their new robot winning 2 out of 5 matches. They ranked 8th in
the meet and are currently in 10th place of the league standings. Team #24592
robot won 3 of 5 matches. They ranked 7th in the meet and are currently in 9th
place of the league standings.
Christmas With Xavier
Christmas with Xavier is scheduled for Sunday, December 15th at Xavier beginning
at 3:00 p.m. Make plans now to join us for a wonderful afternoon of music
performed by the Xavier Choir and Band.
