GO SAINTS! XHS Activities Week-in-Review: December 5, 2024

Girls Basketball
The Girls Basketball team is ranked 8th in the IGHSAU 4A Poll. The Saints won
their opening game of the regular season beat Davenport Assumption by a score
of 67 to 16. The team beat Center Point-Urbana on Tuesday, December 3rd by a
score of 57 to 46. The team is 2-0 on the season and plays again on Friday,
December 6th hosting 5A 7th ranked CR Prairie (2-0). Game time is 7:30 p.m.
Boys Basketball
The Boys Basketball team plays Iowa City High on Thursday, December 5th at
Xavier. Game time is 7:30 p.m. Good luck to Coach Freeman and all members of
the team in their first game of the regular season!
The Girls & Boys Basketball teams play on Saturday, December 7th at Waverly -
Shell Rock. The Girls game begins at 2:30 followed by the Boys game at 3:45 p.m.
The Bowling teams competed in an MVC dual on Tuesday, December 3rd. The
Girls Bowling team won their match by a score of 2318 to 2074. Anna Hutchins
led the Saints with a high game of 197 and a high series of 353. Jack Lammers led
the Boys team with a high game of 220 and a high series of 385.
Wrestling
The Girls & Boys Wrestling team compete on Thursday, December 5th in an MVC
Dual at Western Dubuque. The Girls match begins at 6:45 followed by the Boys
match at 7:45 p.m. The Boys team competes in the Cliff Keen Invitational hosted
by Independence High School on Friday, December 6th at 2:00 p.m. and Saturday
December 7th at 9:00 a.m.
Boys Swimming
The Boys Swim season is in full swing. Xavier has athletes competing in the Cedar
Rapids School District CO-OP with CR Kennedy and CR Washington.
Congratulations to the following Saints in their first meets of the regular season:
Cedar Rapids Metro Meet held on Tuesday, November 26th:- Remy Barton (CRW) 2nd place on the 200 Medley Relay, 3rd place in the200 Free, 2nd place in the 100 Butterfly, & 2nd place on the 200 Free Relay
- Joe Dake (CRW) & Remy Barton were on the 2nd place 400 Free Relay
CR Kennedy dual with Decorah on Tuesday, November 26th:- Augustus Martino (CRK) 3rd place in both the 200 Free & on the 200 Free Relay
- Anthony Trotta, Remy Barton & Joe Dake were on the 2nd place 200 Medley Relay
- Remy Barton placed 3rd in the 200 Free, 3rd in the 100 Butterfly, 1st place in the 500 Free & 1st place on the 400 Free Relay
- Anthony Trotta placed 3rd in the 100 Butterfly and was on the 1st place 200 Free Relay
- Joe Dake was on the 3rd place 400 Free Relay
December 5th at the Krizan-Voss Pool. Meet time is 6:00 p.m.
CR Kennedy is hosting the Cougar Invitational on Saturday, December 7th. Meet
time is 9:00 a.m.
Band
The NEIBA District Honor Band Festival is scheduled for Saturday, December 7th
at Oelwein High School. Good luck to Mr. Allard all Xavier Band members who are
performing!
Xavier Dance Team
The Dance team competes in the ISDTA State Dance Competition (Team & Solo)
on Friday, December 6th at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. Performances
begin at 8:45 a.m. Good luck to Coach Novotny all members of the Dance team at
State!
Robotics Team
The Robotics team competed in the Center Point-Urbana Invitational on Saturday,
November 23rd. Team #5143 placed 5th and Team #24592 placed 9th.
Congratulations to Coach Geers and all members of the Robotics team!
