GO SAINTS! XHS Activities Week-in-Review: January 16, 2025

Boys Wrestling
The Boys Wrestling team beat IC West on Thursday, January 9th by a score of 45 to 32. The Saints competed in the Linn-Mar Dual Tournament on Saturday, January 11th. The team went 3-2 on the day beating Western Dubuque, Marion, and Le Mars. 
The following Saints went 5-0 on the day: 

• Elliott Gnewuch (113), Dane Melchior (175), & Jean Ngoma (215) The following Saints went 4-1 on the day: 
• Taitumn Deppe (106), Kelso Brueck (138), Kale Leymaster (144), & Dusty Cook (190) 

The Boys Wrestling team has a current record of 2-1 in the MVC and an overall record of 6-4. The team competes again on Thursday, January 16th hosting CR Kennedy. Match time is 7:00 p.m. Make plans now to come and support the team on “Senior Night” at Xavier. The team competes on Saturday, January 18 in the Lloyd Shaffer Invitational at Marion High School. Meet time is 9:30 a.m. 

Girls Wrestling
The Girls Wrestling team competed in the Lady Bobcat Duals on Friday, January 10th. The Saints beat BCLUW-SH by a score of 25 to 24. The team competes again on Thursday, January 16th hosting CR Kennedy. Match time is 7:00 p.m. Make plans now to come and support the team on “Senior Night” at Xavier. 

Boys Basketball
The Boys Basketball team is ranked 8th in this week’s IHSAA 3A Poll. The Saints have a current record of 2-3 in the MVC and an overall record of 7-4. The Saints won two games last week beating Western Dubuque by a score of 75 to 39 and Marion by a score of 65 to 45. The team plays again on Friday, January 17th hosting Dubuque Hempstead. Game time is 7:30 p.m. 

Girls Basketball
The Girls Basketball team is ranked 10th in the IGHSAU 4A Poll. The Saints have a current record of 6-2 in the MVC and an overall record of 9-4. The Saints beat Western Dubuque on January 10th by a score of 74 to 27 and Linn-Mar on January 14th by a score of 78 to 34. The team plays again on Friday, January 17th at Dubuque Hempstead. Game time is 7:30 p.m. 

Boys & Girls Bowling
The Bowling teams compete in an MVC match with IC West on Friday, January 17th at May City Bowl. Match time is 3:45 p.m. The Girls Bowling team competes in the CR Prairie Baker Tournament on Saturday, January 18th at Cedar Creek Lanes. Meet time is 1:00 p.m. 

Boys Swimming
Congratulations to the following Boys Swim team members (CRW) who won an event at the meet with West Des Moines Valley on Saturday, January 11th:  

• Remy Barton on the 200 Medley Relay 
• Remy Barton & Anthony Trotta on the 400 Free Relay 

Show Choir
The Xavier Show Choirs competed at the Des Moines Christian Illumination on January 11th. Xuberance placed 1st in their in their division and the varsity show choir, Xhilaration placed 6th overall, earning a spot in the final’s competition. Special shout out to Emma Sires for being selected as the ‘Best Female Soloist’ of the day! Congratulations to Director Phil Schroetter and all members of the Show Choir Program on an outstanding beginning to the season!
