Football The Football team is ranked 6th in this week’s 4A Radio Iowa Poll. The Saints (2-0, 4-2) beat then rated #6 North Scott on October 4th by a score of 28 to 21. The team plays again on Friday, October 11th at Oskaloosa (0-2, 1-5). Kick-Off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
Volleyball The Volleyball team is ranked #1 in this week’s IGHSAU 4A Poll. The team competed this past weekend in the prestigious ASICS Challenge tournament at Mother McAuley High School in Chicago. The Saints won two matches, beating St. Francis Xavier and Barrington by scores of 2 to 0. The Volleyball team beat Linn-Mar on Tuesday, October 8th by a score of 3 to 0. Congratulations to Coach Weiland and the Saints on clinching the MVC Mississippi Division championship! The team is 6-0 in the MVC and has an overall record of 23-4.
The Saints are hosting the championship pool of the MVC Tournament on Tuesday, October 15th beginning at 5:00 p.m. Make plans now to come and support Coach Weiland and all members of the volleyball team as they compete for an MVC Tournament title!
Cross Country The Cross Country teams competed on Saturday, October 5th at Wartburg College. The Boys team placed 2nd out of 19 competing teams. Andrew Allen finished 3rd with a new PR of 16:40. Andrew has the fasted time of any freshmen in the history of Xavier! Kaleb Wilgenbusch placed 12th for the Saints. The Girls team placed 5th out of 12 competing teams. Mia Deegan led the Saints placing 5th with a time of 19:48. The Cross Country teams compete again on Thursday, October 10th in the MVC Super Meet at Seminole Valley Park. Meet time is 3:30 p.m.
Golf The Boys Golf team competed on Monday, October 7th in a 4A District at Thunder Hills C.C. The Saints placed 7th out of 14 competing teams. Grant Allen led the Saints placing 19th with a round of 78. Congratulations to Coach Schiltz and all members of the Boys Golf team on an outstanding season!
Swimming The CR Kennedy (CO-OP) Girls Swim team competed on Saturday, October 5th in the Ames Invitational.
-Congratulations to Lilly Anctil for winning the 50 Free and achieving the automatic qualifying state time! -The 200 Free Relay placed 2nd with Lilly Anctil & Sarah Foerster -Sarah Foerster placed 4th in the 200 IM -Lilly Anctil finished 2nd & Lucy Nunez placed 4th in the 100 Butterfly -The 400 Free Relay placed 1st with Lilly Anctil. The Girls Swim team competes again on Saturday, October 12th at Summit Middle School. Meet time is 8:00 a.m.
Marching Band The Marching Band competed on Saturday, October 5th in the Five Seasons Invitational. The Marching Saints placed 3rd out of 10 participating teams. The Saints also received the Best Winds Caption Award!
The Marching Band performs on Saturday, October 12th in the Iowa High School Music Association State Marching Band Festival @ Kingston Stadium. The Saints “take the field” at 1:45 p.m. Good luck to Mr. Allard and all members of the Marching Saints at State!
