GO SAINTS! XHS Activities Week-in-Review: October 17, 2024

Football
The Football team (3-0, 5-2) beat Oskaloosa on October 11th by a score of 35 to 0.
The Saints are ranked 5th in this week’s Radio Iowa 4A Poll. The team is hosting
Clear Creek-Amana (2-1, 4-3) on Friday, October 18th. Game time is 7:30 p.m. @
Saints Field.

Volleyball
The Volleyball team (6-0, 26-4) is ranked #1 in this week’s IGHSAU 4A Poll. The
Saints hosted MVC Tournament championship pod on Tuesday, October 15th.
The team won three matches:

• Xavier 2, IC Liberty 0
• Xavier 2, Dubuque Wahlert 0
• Xavier 2, Cedar Falls 1

Congratulations to Coach Weiland and all members of the team on winning the
MVC Volleyball Tournament for the first time in school history!
The Volleyball team begins post season play on Thursday, October 24th hosting a
4A Regional semifinal. Match time is 7:00 p.m. Make plans now to come and
support the team as the “road to state” begins!

Cross Country
The Cross Country teams competed in the MVC Super Meet on Thursday, October
10th. 120 girls ran in the varsity race. Mia Deegan led the Saints placing 20th
with a PR of 19:27. Sofia Musick placed 51st with a PR of 20:57. 121 boys ran in
the varsity race. Andrew Allen led the Saints placing 30th with a PR of 16:21. The
teams compete again on Thursday, October 17th hosting the MVC Mississippi
Divisional @ Seminole Valley Park. Meet time is 3:30 p.m. The 3A State
Qualifying Meet is scheduled for Wednesday, October 23 hosted by Solon High
School at the Solon Recreation and Nature Area. The Girls race is scheduled to
begin at 4:00 p.m. followed by the Boys race at 4:30 p.m. Good luck to Coach
Lemker, Coach Skala, and all members of the Cross Country teams as the compete
to qualify for state!

Marching Band
The Marching Band earned a Division I Rating at the State Marching Band Festival.
This is the 12 consecutive year that the band has received a Division I Rating!
Congratulations to Mr. Allard and all members of the Marching Saints on an
outstanding accomplishment. The Marching Saints perform again on Saturday,
October 19th at the Waukee Marching Band Classic. The Saints “take the field” at
6:45 p.m. Good luck to Mr. Allard and all members of the Marching Saints in their
final competition of the season!

Choral
The Fall Choral Preview concert is scheduled for Monday, October 21st. The
concert will be held at St. Jude Parish beginning at 7:00 p.m. Good luck to Mr.
Schroetter and all members of the choir!
