GO SAINTS! XHS Activities Week-in-Review: October 24, 2024

MARCHING BAND

The Marching Band placed 4th place at the Waukee Marching Invitational held on Saturday, October 19th.  The Saints earned Outstanding Hornline, Outstanding Marching and Outstanding Drum Majors in Class 3A.  This was the final marching band competition of the 2024 season.  Congratulations to Mr. Allard and all members of the Marching Band on a great season!  

ALL-STATE MUSIC

The All-State Music Festival District Auditions are scheduled for Saturday, October 26th at Independence High School beginning at 9:00 a.m.  Good luck to all Band and Choir students who are auditioning for All-State!  

CROSS COUNTRY

The MVC Cross Country teams have been released.  Congratulations to the following Saints:

• Girls First Team:  Mia Deegan

• Boys Second Team:  Andrew Allen

The Cross Country teams competed on Wednesday, October 23rd in a 3A State Qualifying Meet at Solon.  The Girls team placed 5th out of 12 competing teams and the Boys teams placed 5th out of 13 competing teams.  

Congratulations to the following Saints who qualified for the 3A State Meet:

• Mia Deegan (4th place with a time of 19:10)

• Andrew Allen (6th place with a time of 16:38)

• Kaleb Wilgenbusch (12th place with a time of 17:02)

The 3A State Cross Country Meet will be held on Friday, November 1st at Lakeside Municipal Golf Course in Fort Dodge.  The Girls race begins at 10:30 a.m. followed by the Boys race at 11:15 a.m.  Good luck Saints! 

DANCE

The Dance team is competing in the XDT State Solo Qualifier on Thursday, October 24th at the Pella Middle School.  Performances begin at 4:00 p.m.  Good luck to all Dance team members competing to qualify for State!  

VOLLEYBALL

The 4A #1 ranked Volleyball team is hosting a 4A Regional Semifinal match on Thursday, October 24th.  The Saints (26-4) play Waverly-Shell Rock (21-22) at 7:00 p.m.  Admission is $8, NO PASSES will be accepted.  Good luck to Coach Weiland and all members of the team as the “road to state” begins! 

FOOTBALL

The Football team (5-3) is hosting Burlington (2-6) on Friday, October 25th.  Game time is 7:30 p.m. @ Saints Field.  Good luck to Coach Schulte and all members of the team in the final game of the regular season.
