GO SAINTS! XHS Activities Week-in-Review: September 19, 2024

Football
The Football team (2-1) is ranked 8th in this week’s Radio Iowa 4A Poll.  The Saints play 4A 5th ranked Pella (3-0) on Friday, September 20th @ Saints Field.  Game time is 7:30 p.m. 

Volleyball
The 4A #1 ranked Volleyball team competed in the Lancer Invitational on Saturday, September 14th. The team went 4-1 on the day losing only to 4A #2 ranked North Scott in the championship match.  
The team played in a MVC dual at Iowa City West on Tuesday, September 17th. The Saints won by a score of 3-0. The team is currently 3-0 in the MVC and has an overall record of 13-1.  

The Saints compete again on Saturday, September 21st at the Benton Invitational.  Pool play begins at 9:00 a.m.

Boys Golf
The Boys Golf team is ranked 9th in this week’s IHSAA 4A Poll.  The team competed on Monday, September 16th in an MVC Divisional at Finkbine G.C.  The Saints placed 3rd as a team with a score of 316.  Pranay Monga was the meet medalist “runner-up” with a 3 over par 75.  

The team competed in the CRANDIC Tournament on Tuesday, September 17th at Hunters Ridge G.C.  The Saints won the team title for the second straight season!  Logan Otting was the meet medalist “runner-up” with a one under par 71.  Jacob Schmit and Pranay Monga tied for 4th each shooting a 76.  Grant Allen tied for 8th place with a round of 78.  

Cross Country   
The Cross Country teams competed in the Cedar Rapids Invitational on Thursday, September 12th at Seminole Valley Park.  The Girls team was led by Cayleigh O’Brien with a 28th place finish.  The Boys team was led by Andrew Allen with a 29th place finish and a season best time of 17:03.  

The teams competed in the Benton Invitational on Saturday, September 14th.  The Girls team placed 2nd out of 10 teams.  Mia Deegan won the girls' race with a season best time of 19:55. Cayleigh O’Brien placed 4th and Sofia Musick placed 6th.  The Boys team placed 2nd out of 10 teams.   Andrew Allen placed 3rd and Kaleb Wilgenbusch placed 5th. The Cross Country teams compete again on Monday, September 23rd at the Solon Invitational. Meet time is 5:00 p.m.

Girls Swimming
Members of the Girls Swim CR Kennedy (CO-OP) team competed on Thursday,
September 12th in a dual @ Burlington. Congratulations to the following Saints
who won events:

• Lilly Anctil in the 200 Medley Relay, 100 Butterfly & the 400 Free Relay
• Lucy Nunez in the 200 Medley Relay
• Sarah Foerster in the 200 IM & the 400 Free Relay

The team competed on Tuesday, September 17th in a dual @ Decorah.
