GO SAINTS! XHS Activities Week-in-Review: September 26, 2024

Football
The Football team (2-2) is ranked 9th in this week’s Radio Iowa 4A Poll. The team
plays Clinton (1-3) on Friday, September 27th @ Saints Field. Kick-Off is
scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Good luck to Coach Schulte and the team in the 27th
annual Homecoming game!

UPDATE: Congrats to Coach Schulte and the football team on their 56-0 victory over Clinton on Friday!

Volleyball
The 4A top ranked Volleyball team went 5-0 on Saturday, September 21st at the
Benton Invitational. The highlight of the day was a win over 4A 2nd ranked North
Scott by a score of 2-1. The Saints beat Marion in the championship match by a
score of 2-0. Congratulations to Coach Weiland and all members of the team on a
great day of volleyball!

The Saints played at CR Kennedy on Tuesday, September 24th. The team beat the
Cougars by a score of 3 to 0. The team is now 4-0 in the MVC with an overall
record of 19-1.

The Volleyball team plays again on Tuesday, October 1st hosting Dubuque Senior.
Match time is 7:00 p.m. Make plans now to come and support the team on
“Senior Night” here at Xavier. The match will be televised “live” by KCRG TV
channel 9.2

Cross Country
The Cross Country teams competed in the Solon Invitational on Monday,
September 23rd. The Boys team placed 3rd out of 9 teams. Andrew Allen placed
4th and Kaleb Wilgenbusch finished 11th. The Girls team placed 7th out of 9
teams. Mia Deegan placed 3rd with a personal best time of 19:31.
The Cross Country teams compete again on Monday, September 30th in the Clear
Creek-Amana Invitational @ the Iowa City Kickers Soccer Park. The Girls race
begins at 5:30 followed by the Boys race at 6:00 p.m.

Golf
The Boys Golf team competed in the Western Dubuque quadrangular at the
Meadows C.C. on Monday, September 23rd. The Saints placed 3rd as a team.
Jack Pauly led the Saints with a score of 38, placing 3rd. Jacob Schmit and Pranay
Monga tied for 5th with scores of 39.

The team competes again in the final MVC Divisional at Hunters Ridge G.C. on
Monday, September 30th.

UPDATE: The team finished 2nd on the day and 2nd overall in the division. Pranay Monga finished 3rd overall and earned a spot on the MVC Divisional 1st Team alongside fellow-Saint, Jacob Schmit. Logan Otting and Grant Allen earned 2nd Team MVC All-Division honors while Jack Pauly and Mac Driscoll earned Honorable Mention honors.

Swimming
The CR Kennedy (CO-OP) Girls Swim team is hosting the Cougar Invitational on
Saturday, September 28th @ Kennedy. Meet time is 9:00 a.m. The CR
Washington (CO-OP) Girls Swim team competes on Saturday, September 28th at
the Des Moines Lincoln Invitational. Meet time is 9:00 a.m.

Marching Band
The Marching Band performs on Saturday, September 28th at the Linn-Mar
Invitational beginning at 9:00 a.m. Xavier takes the field at 11:10 a.m. Good luck
to Mr. Allard and all members of the Marching Saints in their first competition of the season!
