GO SAINTS! XHS Activities Weekly Highlights: August 25, 2022

Boys & Girls Cross Country:

The Boys and Girls open their season on Saturday at the Anamosa Invitational. Running starts at 9:00 am.

Boys Golf:

The Boy's golf team started their season at the MVC Boys Golf Super Meet held at Hunters Ridge Golf Course on August 11th. The team finished 4th in a very talented field of 15 schools.

At the Linn-Mar Invitational on August 15th, Charlie Allen led the team and finished 8th. The Saints finished as a team 4th overall.

On August 18th the boys played at the Washington Warrior Invitational at the Eagle Ridge South Golf Course in Galena. The team finished 8th overall and was led by Junior Garrett Nurre who tied for 6th.

Yesterday, the Saints traveled to Johnston for the Dragon Invitational. Ryan Schmit led the team placing 2nd. The team also finished 2nd overall (293).

The next meet is home at Wildcat Golf course. Xavier takes on Iowa City West and Western Dubuque at 2:30 PM.

Swimming:

Congratulations to the following swimmers on placing in the top 3 in their events on Tuesday:

Cedar Rapids Washington

Elanor Morrissey placed 2nd in the 400 Yd Freestyle Relay and 3rd in the 200 Yd Freestyle Relay.

Cedar Rapids Kennedy

Casey Gannon placed 1st in the 200 Yard Medley Relay and 100 Yd Breaststroke, 2nd in the 200 Yd IM, and 3rd in the 200 Yd Freestyle Relay.
Lilly Anctil placed 1st in the 200 Yd Medley Relay, the 50 Freestyle, and the 200 Yd Freestyle Relay.
Maria Trotta placed 1st in the 200 Yd Freestyle and the 200 Yd Freestyle Relay and 3rd in the 100 Yd Butterfly.
Meera Julka placed 1st in the 200 Yd Freestyle Relay and the 400 Yd Freestyle Relay, 2nd in the 50 Yd Freestyle, and the 100 Yd Freestyle.
Sarah Foerster placed 3rd in the 200 Yd Freestyle Relay.

Good luck on Saturday to the girls swimming for Kennedy at their invitational at Dubuque Hempstead!

Volleyball

The volleyball team won their season opener on Tuesday against Jefferson 3-0 (25-12, 25-12, 25-11). The Saints will return to the court next week Tuesday at Dubuque Senior!

Football:

The first game of the season is tomorrow night at home at Western Dubuque. Varsity kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
