Band
Congratulations to our NEIBA Honor Band performers for an outstanding concert last Saturday! 5 out of 6 wind players got first chair on the chair placement auditions.
Congratulations to Ms. Swehla on being recognized as the NEIBA Excellence in Teaching Award recipient this past weekend! Well-deserved award for her longtime leadership, commitment to our Saints, and dedication to music in our community.
Boys Basketball:
The boys basketball team 2-0 defeated Waverly-Shell Rock on Saturday 50-45.
Friday, the Saints boys basketball team will take part in a boy/girl double header at Prairie. The boys tip is set for 7:30pm.
Next week, the Boys will be on the road at Western Dubuque on Tuesday and will be at home on Friday against Waterloo East. Varsity tip is set for 7:30pm
Bowling:
The Saints Bowling teams hosted Washington on Friday last week. The boys team defeated the Warriors 2715 to 2324. The girls team also picked up the win by defeating the Warriors 2151 to 1970.
The teams will be back in action on Friday as they travel to Lancer Lanes to take on Prairie. Saturday, the girls will take part in the Prairie Tournament again at Lancer Lanes.
Next week, the Saints will take on Jefferson on the 17th.
Boys Golf:
Congratulations to William Grainger for being selected for the Iowa High School Golf Coaches Association 2021 Fall Academic All-State team.
Dance
The Xavier Dance team had a great weekend at the Iowa State Dance Championships in Des Moines last week. The team finished as:
-First place in class VII Hip Hop
-Second place in class X Pom
-Outstanding Community Service Award
-ISDTA Character Counts Team of the Year Award
-Dance Team Union’s Most Authentic Award for Hip Hop
-THREE top five soloists for Class XIII: Reegan Flugge- 4th, Sara Gundacker- 3rd, and Alyssa Ramler- 1st. Alyssa finished 1st out of 858 solos for the day. Congratulations Alyssa.
The Hip Hop routine not only won their class, but they finished 3rd overall out of 247 teams.
Football:
Congratulations to the following Saints being selected as All-State for the Des Moines Register
Nate Westhoff OL - 1st team All-State
Tristan Vasquez K- Elite 1st team All-State
Thomas Sundell LB- 1 team all state All-State
Aidan McDermott DB- Elite 1st team All-State
Girls Basketball:
Coach Lilly and the Girls basketball team are 4-2 on the year. They defeated Dubuque Wahlert on Tuesday 54-40 to move to 1-0 in the conference.
They will be back in action Friday as they travel to Prairie for the Boy/Girl Varsity Double header. The girls will play the early game at 6:00pm.
Next week, the Saints Girls Basketball team will be home on Tuesday as they host Western Dubuque. Varsity tip is set for 7:30pm.
Robotics:
Congratulations to the Robotics team for winning 4 of their 5 matches at their League meet Saturday. The team went from being ranked 7th in their league to ranked 4th.
Swimming and Diving
Boys Swimming and Diving is in full swing. We have multiple swimmers at all of the Cedar Rapids schools through our co-op agreement with them.
Congratulations to the following swimmers who placed in the top 3 in their events on Tuesday-
CRW-
*Brian Foerster placed 1st in the 100 Yd Breaststroke and was 2nd in the 200 Yd Medley Relay and the 500 Yd Freestyle Relay
*Jack Dake placed 2nd in the 200 Yd Freestyle Relay and 3rd in the 100 Yd Breastroke
*Seth Williams place 3rd in the 400 Yd Freestyle Relay
Saturday, Kennedy will travel to Marshalltown. Next week, Kennedy will travel to Southeast Polk on Tuesday, Linn-Mar on Thursday, and host a make up with Jefferson on Saturday.
Washington will be at Bettendorf next Tuesday before they host Dubuque Senior on Thursday.
Wrestling:
The wrestling team traveled to Independence for the Cliff Keen invitational on Friday and Saturday. Congratulations to our wrestlers, 113 lb runner up Ryan Hoefer and 160 lb 3rd place Christian Stanek.
Thursday, the Saints will travel to Dubuque Hempstead for their MVC dual. Saturday, the Saints will travel to Mount Vernon. Wrestling will start at 10:00am.
Next week, the Saints will host the Doug Phillip Duals on Saturday. Wrestling starts at 9:00am.
