Boys & Girls Cross Country:
Our Cross Country teams traveled to West Delaware on Tuesday. Both teams saw many personal bests and season bests. The boys team was led by Randall Kinner with a time of 17:13 and the girls were led by Eden Campbell with a time of 23:26.
Both teams competed at Irv Warren Golf Course in Waterloo for the MVC Supermeet hosted by Waterloo West yesterday.
Next week, the Saints will run in the Valley divisional meet on Thursday. This meet will be hosted by Iowa City West at Kicker Soccer Club starting at 3:00pm. The rain date for this event is Friday October 15th at 11:00am at Kickers Soccer Club in Iowa City.
Boys Golf:
Last Thursday the Saints won their final MVC quad with a score of 154. Xavier had two Runner-Up medalists in Ryan Schmit and Garrett Nurre with a very respectable 37 on the day.
The boys finished their season on Monday of this week at the District Golf Meet held at Thunder Hills in Peosta. The team finished 6th overall with a final score of 312. Saints' Quincey Johnson and Ryan Schmit led the team both shooting 76’s. The team finished the season with a record of 64-40.
Football:
The 4A top five ranked Saints (5-1) defeated Pella last Friday 28-3. They are now 2-0 in district play. TONIGHT, the Saints return home to host Clear Creek Amana for homecoming. The game is scheduled for 7:30pm. Both teams are 5-1 and 2-0 in district play.
Next week, the team will be on the road at Newton. Varsity kickoff is set for 7:30pm.
Marching Band:
This past Saturday, the Marching Saints competed in the Bands Across the Prairie Invite hosted by Prairie High School in the morning. They then traveled to Kingston for the Five Seasons Invite. At the Bands Across the Prairie competition, the Saints ended with a score of 77.5 to finish 3rd overall. At the Five Season Invite that night, the Saints ended with a score of 71.4 for 6th overall.
Saturday is the State Marching Band Festival at Kingston Stadium. The Marching Saints will perform at 10:30am.
On Monday of next week, the Saints will perform at the Metro Marching Band Classic held at Linn-Mar Stadium.
Swimming:
This past Tuesday, the Saints swimmers were in action in a dual hosted by Kennedy.

Anne Baumann placed 1st in 200 Yd Medley Relay and the 50 Yd Freestyle and 2nd in the 100 Yd Freestyle and the 200 Yd Freestyle Relay
Casey Gannon placed 1st in the 200 Yd Freestyle, the 100 Yd Butterfly, the 200 Yd Freestyle Relay and the 400 Yd Freestyle Relay
Meera Julka placed 1st in the 200 Yd IM and the 400 Yd Freestyle Relay and 3rd in 500 Yd Freestyle
Maria Trotta placed 1st in the 100 Yd Freestyle and the 200 Yd Freestyle and 2nd in the 200 Yd IM
Jessica Lyon placed 2nd in the 200 Yd Freestyle Relay and the 400 Yd Freestyle Relay
CRW:
Lucy Pfab placed 1st in the 100 Yd Breaststroke and 2nd in the 200 Yd Medley Relay
Ellanor Morrissey placed 3rd in the 200 Yd Medley Relay and the 200 Yd Freestyle Relay
Next week, the girls for Kennedy will travel to Burlington on Tuesday. Washington will host Iowa City High on Tuesday. Both meets start at 6:00pm.
Both teams will compete in the MVC Conference Swimming & Diving meet. Diving will be Thursday the 14th at 5:00pm. Swimming will be Saturday the 16th at 12:00pm. Both will be hosted by Kennedy.
Volleyball
Congratulations to Ava Hunt for being named to the Academic All-State team by the IGCA.
A huge congratulations to our Sophomore, Junior Varsity, and Varsity teams on REPEATING as MVC champions on Tuesday. The teams defeated Dubuque Hempstead to claim a share of the Valley Divisional Title. The 4A top ten ranked Varsity Saints (25-3) defeated Dubuque Hempstead 3-0.
Next week, Xavier will now host the MVC Championship pool on Tuesday. This includes the Champions and Runner-ups from both the Valley Division and the Mississippi Division. Teams are Kennedy, Cedar Falls, Iowa City Liberty, and Xavier. Pool play starts at 5:00pm. Games will then follow at 6 and 7:30pm.
Special Events
TONIGHT is Homecoming football. New this year will be the addition of Hall of Fame inductions. This will be done at halftime of the varsity game along with the recognition of our homecoming court/king & queen. Prior to kickoff, we will recognize Coach Dick Breitbach for his 60 years of service to Cedar Rapids Catholic Schools.
