GO SAINTS! XHS Activities Weekly Highlights: Sept. 3, 2020

Boys & Girls Cross Country: 

Both opened up their season running very well at Prairie Invite this past Saturday.  The top finishers were Randell Kinner for the Boys and Lizzie Schmit for the Girls.  

They will run again this Saturday at Linn-Mar invite at 9:00am over at Oak Ridge Middle School

Boys Golf: 

The Saints have been golfing really well to start the year.  Most recently, they finished 2nd at the Mark Mann invitational in Mason City.  The team was led by Matthew Schmit with a low score 76 which was tied for 3rd overall.  

They will play again today at home for the first time this year in their MVC Quad with Cedar Falls, Dubuque Sr. and Prairie.

Swimming:

Opened up at Cedar Falls last week, their meet yesterday at Linn-Mar vs. Jefferson was cancelled halfway through due to a power outage. 

Kennedy will swim Saturday at Muscatine Invitational.  Washington will swim next Tuesday at Iowa City High. 

 Volleyball

The #2 ranked Saints won their season opener 3 games to 0 over Iowa City West Tuesday.  They will play again on Saturday at home against Oskaloosa and Clinton in a makeup for the lost CRW tournament.  Xavier will play Oskaloosa at 9am followed by Clinton at 11am.

Next week, the Saints will host Kennedy on Tuesday the 8th, and they will travel to North Scott to take part in the Lancer Invite on Saturday. 

Football:

The #5 ranked Saints are starting 1-0 on the year.  They defeated Western Dubuque 38-21 last Friday.  All three levels won their openers. The Saints will return to action tomorrow at Linn-Mar.  The Sophomores start at 5:00 and Varsity at 7:15pm.

Next Friday the Saints will be playing Clear Creek Amana at home for homecoming.

Congratulations to Coach Schulte on achieving his 200th career victory last Friday.  He is one of 55 coaches in Iowa to do so.

Band:

Unfortunately, marching band competition season has been cancelled for the year.  Our band will perform for home football games.  

Fall Play

The drama department has elected to switch the musical and play around this year to help with COVID mitigation.  We will be having a play in the month of November with more information to come regarding the specific play, rehearsals, and auditions.
