GO SAINTS! XHS Activities Weekly Highlights: September 23, 2021

 

Boys & Girls Cross Country: 

On Monday, Randall Kinner was 6th overall at Solon.  The boys team ran well and finished eighth overall.

 

This afternoon, the Saints Girls team will run at the Eastern Iowa Classic hosted by Kennedy at Seminole Valley.  Running starts at 4:30pm

 

Next week, both the boys and girls will travel to Clear Creek Amana for their Co-Ed invitational.  Running starts at 5:00pm at Kickers Soccer Club. 

 

Boys Golf: 

Monday the Saints played at Pleasant Valley Golf Course in the MVC quad hosted by Iowa City High.  

 

Next Week, Xavier will play in the second Valley Divisional hosted by Dubuque Senior.  Play starts at 9:30am.  

 

Football:

The 4A top five ranked Saints (3-1) will host Cedar Rapids Washington in a metro matchup.  This is the opening of district play for the Saints.

 

Next week, the team will travel to Pella to take on the Dutch.  Varsity kickoff is set for 7:30pm.  

 

Marching Band: 

 

Saturday, the Marching Saints will be in action at the Linn-Mar Invitational.  Their performance is scheduled for 1:00pm at Linn-Mar Stadium.  

 

Next week, the Marching Saints will compete in the Bands Across the Prairie Invite hosted by Prairie High School in the morning.  They will then travel to Kingston for the Five Seasons Invite.  

 

Swimming:

 

Congratulations to the following swimmers on their top 3 finishes in their meet on Tuesday.

CRW-

Lucy Pfab placed 2nd in the 400 Yd Freestyle Relay and 3rd in the 200 Yd Medley Relay and the 100 Yd Freestyle. Ellanor Morrissey placed 3rd in the 500 Freestyle

 

Good luck to our swimmers this weekend.  Kennedy will host the Cougar Invite at 9:00am, and Washington will travel to Des Moines Lincoln for their invitational starting at 11:30am.  

 

 Volleyball

The 4A top ten ranked Saints (19-2) took part in the Marion Invitational this past Saturday.  The team defeated #10 ranked Marion to win the tournament!

 

Tuesday, the Saints hosted Waterloo West and defeated the Rams 3-0. 

 

Next week, the ladies will travel to Waterloo East on Tuesday to take on the Trojans in MVC play.  On Saturday October 2nd, the Saints will travel to Waverly Shell Rock for their Invitational. 

 

Special Events

Dance Team Minis will be performing Friday during the Sophomore Football game against CR Washington.
