SENIOR INFO: Scholarship Info. for Senior Honors

Dear Parents of Senior Xavier Students,

I continue to be amazed at the outstanding perspective and leadership that the Class of 2024 has brought to their senior year. While the year is flying by and graduation may still seem to be a long way off, I can assure you that it will be here before you know it.

Senior Honors Recognition has become one of Xavier’s most honored and cherished traditions. This will be held on Wednesday, May 1st at 12:15 PM. This is an opportunity to recognize our Xavier seniors who have excelled in academics, spirituality, activities and service. 

Award Categories

We applaud our seniors for their outstanding achievement during their four years here and for their contributions to Xavier, to our community and to our world. Awards and scholarships shared come from the following categories:

• Departmental awards
• Non-departmental awards
• Awards from organizations and businesses outside of Xavier
• Special Xavier Awards

 

Award Criteria

Xavier is proud of the many awards and scholarships received by this year’s graduating class. Those awards from organizations and businesses outside of Xavier and shared at Senior Honors meet the following criteria:

• They have not yet been awarded
• The award winners are selected by Xavier High School
• Any guests presenting awards are members of the faculty, staff or a student with a tie to the family of the award.
• Xavier’s top academic award is reserved for Commencement exercises and not awarded at the Senior Honors Assembly.

What We Need From You…

We also believe it is important to recognize students who have received scholarships that are from colleges, universities and other outside organizations. Like the other awards presented at the assembly, those scholarships are earned as a result of extraordinary effort and commitment throughout our students’ four years at Xavier. I believe students who earn such scholarships should be recognized along with other award recipients. 

• We will also announce the cumulative total of scholarship dollars offered to the Class of 2024. 
• We will place the names of students and the scholarships received (without dollar amount) in both the Honors Assembly and Graduation programs. 

How to Submit Your Scholarship Information… 

To that end, I am asking for your assistance. In order to accurately and completely recognize all deserving students who have been awarded college and university scholarships, we will need to collect information about those awards. We are asking that you submit

• a copy of the letter or certificate documenting any college or university scholarship earned by your student. Emails, scans or copies will be accepted.
• If your student has been offered scholarships by more than one institution, you should include all of them in your reporting. 
• Your student may also earn awards from organizations outside of Xavier. Please feel free to include a copy of the documentation of those awards as well. We will include them in our recognition. 
• This documentation should be submitted to Student Services Secretary, Anne Wallraff, no later than Friday, April 26 at 3:00 p.m.

We will adhere strictly to this deadline as programs for Honors Assembly and Graduation can be printed in a timely manner. 

What to Expect Next 

Please also note that a letter will be mailed within this next week to all senior parents with all of the graduation information you will need for your senior! 

 

As we approach the end of your student’s four years at Xavier, I want to let you know how much we have enjoyed the Class of 2024! They have made a positive impact on Xavier and we pray that God continues to bless them as they embark upon the next part of life’s journey.
