Workplace Learning Connection Job Shadows and Internships What do I want to be? How will I get there?
A job shadow or internship sponsored by Workplace Learning Connection is the perfect way to try out or experience a career before you decide. Juniors and Seniors are allowed to participate in this program. As with many events this year, our presentation for job shadows and internships will be virtual.
Job Shadows consist of a 2-4 hour time commitment (usually during the school day) when you can visit and learn about a specific career or career area. Some of these may be virtual, but many of these are still held in person.
Internships are a more involved on-the-job experience. It can be a 45-hour or 90-hour internship and you receive college credit for completion. These will take place during 2nd semester. Being involved in an internship usually means adjusting your schedule to allow for adequate time.
Job Shadows and Internships also look great on a resume.
This video offers helpful information regarding these opportunities.
Links to the applications can also be found on the
Xavier website.
Applications for Job Shadows are due Friday, October 2.
Applications for Internships are due Friday, October 30.
Note the above deadlines as this is the only opportunity this school year for students to sign up for a job shadow (both semesters) or internship (second semester).
