Do your job.
A lot has changed over the years, but some things stay the same.
Whether a parent, student, athlete or faculty member, almost everyone within the Xavier community knows of Head Coach Duane Schulte’s iconic phrase. That being, “Do your job.”
While the saying may be most widely associated with the success of the football team, it is also applicable to all the hard work and preparation that goes on in the classroom, at home and behind the scenes.

For nearly a decade, Molly Potter and Kristin Weih have volunteered and ran the Xavier High School football concession stand together, ensuring that it is staffed and stocked for every home game.
Collectively, concession stand revenue is one of the primary fundraisers for the Xavier Booster Club (XBC).
More specifically, all proceeds raised at the various sporting events each year allow the club to donate $75,000 annually to the 41 programs and activities offered at Xavier.
Potter started her work as a volunteer in 2010 after shadowing Bob and Kelly Haug.
“Friends asked me to help at the Booster Bash and I felt it was a great way for me to be able to give back to Xavier,” Potter said.
Weih joined soon after in 2013.
“Molly needed help and I thought it was the perfect volunteer opportunity to spend time with a friend and help Xavier as well,” Weih said.
The two have made several lasting memories in their roles and remensinced about the good times overly nearly the last decade, as well as the laughs they have shared while preparing for the games.
“We made a good team,” Potter said. “We always enjoyed our visits, in particular, from Rich Miller and Tom Wille.”
The pair has had and currently have children enrolled at Xavier, furthering showing their commitment to the school. For Potter, her daughters Abbey (X15) and McKenzie (X13) are previous graduates while her son Luke is a junior. Similarly, Weih is the mother of Anna (X17) and Matthew, a current senior.
“We felt the need to give back to the Xavier community that gave so much to our kids,” Potter and Weih said. “It has been very rewarding to meet different parents from every activity and grade.”
Both Potter and Weih also mentioned that every dollar raised from concessions goes back to support the Xavier programs directly and that none of this would be possible without the endless support of all the volunteers.
“Without working in the stand for these past years, we wouldn’t have been able to meet so many kind people and volunteers,” Potter and Weih said. “We feel we are leaving this in good hands for years to come.”
Next year, Kim Loffswold and Alecia Denman will take over Potter and Weih’s current positions, but the XBC is still looking for an additional one to two volunteers to help Loffswold and Denman.
If interested in helping with concessions, volunteering or participating in the golf outing or learning more about Booster Club please contact: Tonya Arnold at [email protected].
“Our hope is that everyone can take some time to volunteer in the football concession stand and enjoy it as much as we did,” Potter said.
The two have contributed countless hours of preparation for each and every game, at times organizing and directing 35 plus volunteers.
A lot has changed over the years, but it is clear that some things, such as the amazing parent volunteers who willingly and selflessly serve, stay the same.
On behalf of the XBC and the Xavier community, a sincere and heartfelt thank you is extended to both Potter and Weih for their endless contributions and dedication. A job well done, contributing to Xavier High School’s mission to foster stewardship and develop the total person in a Catholic environment.
