We recently visited with Xavier Foundation Board Member, Tom Hoffmann, about his journey to adding Xavier in his planned giving. Tom and his wife, Jean (R75) (pictured left), are members of the Xavier Foundation’s Heritage Society, which was established to recognize donors who demonstrate their commitment to Catholic education by including Xavier Foundation in their estate or deferred-giving plans.
Why and how did you first become involved with Xavier Foundation?
After discovering the kindness and gratefulness of the Catholic Community when our daughter Elizabeth was at St. Matthew, we saw it continue and grow as she progressed through Regis and then Xavier. When I was asked to join the Xavier Foundation Board, it was an easy decision to make so I could continue to help grow and expand the Board’s mission.
What do you think is Xavier Foundation’s most important work?
Some of the most important work of the Foundation is to help support Xavier’s both short-and-long term growth goals.
What do you hope your gift will accomplish?
As a former high school educator and coach, I realized the need to reward and compliment the teaching staff’s dedication, loyalty and guidance. So by making a financial commitment, I knew that will be a great way to support our staff and continue to fund future physical building and property growth.
Why did you include Xavier in your estate plan?
By including Xavier, Regis and St. Matthew in our estate plan, we are certain that our faculty and staff will be able to continue the mission of Catholic education.
What would you say to others considering including Xavier Foundation in their estate plans?
I would strongly recommend that others in the Catholic Community consider adding the Xavier Foundation to their estate plans. When that happens, it may be possible to share the generous donations with both Xavier and our other parish schools and institutions in the community. Let’s reward our dedicated staff and support the future of growth of Catholic education!
Xavier Foundation has more than 200 members of the Heritage Society. These are donors who graciously chose to leave a legacy of generosity through Catholic education to the next generation of Saints and added Xavier Foundation in their will or life insurance policy (or by establishing a charitable trust or gift annuity).
