Singing Saints is open to any student in grades 9-12. This ensemble provides the student with an opportunity to rehearse and perform a wide variety of men’s literature. Performances range from choral concerts to state contest. Emphasis will be placed on vocal technique, reading skills, and exposure to choral literature. This class meets on B Days during 1st Period.
Women’s Chorale is open to any student in grades 9-12. This ensemble provides the student with an opportunity to rehearse and perform a wide variety of treble choir literature. Performances range from choral concerts to state contest. The Women’s Chorale rehearses daily. Emphasis will be placed on vocal technique, reading skills, and exposure to choral literature. This class meets on B Days during 3rd period.
The Xavier Chorale is an auditioned ensemble for students in grades 10-12. Auditions are held the previous spring semester and students are selected based on tone quality, musicianship, sight-reading ability, and attitude. The ensemble rehearses and performs a wide variety of four to eight part a cappella literature. Performances range from choral concerts to state contest. The Xavier Chorale is the top curricular vocal ensemble at Xavier and rehearses daily. Individual vocal development and ensemble musicianship are required. This class meets on A Days during 2nd Period
Voce is an auditioned extra-curricular ensemble for students in grades 10-12. Auditions are held in the fall and students are selected based on tone quality, musicianship, sight-reading ability, and attitude. The ensemble rehearses on Thursday evenings from 6-8 p.m. and performs a wide variety of four to eight part literature. Performances range from school concerts to numerous community events. This ensemble frequently performs outside the school day so after school availability is required.
Xhilaration is an auditioned extra-curricular varsity show choir for students in grades 10-12. Auditions are held in the previous spring semester and students are selected based on tone quality, stage presence, dance ability, attitude, and teamwork. The ensemble typically rehearses on Monday evenings. Requirements of this ensemble are travel during competition season, extensive time commitment, community performances arranged by the director, and work at the annual middle school competition.
Xuberance is an auditioned extra-curricular show choir for students in grades 9-12. Auditions are held in the previous spring semester and students are selected based on tone quality, stage presence, dance ability, attitude, and teamwork. The ensemble typically rehearses on Tuesday evenings and performs during the competition season. Students will travel and compete against other prep show choirs. Members are also required to work at the annual middle school competition.
